HOW TO BECOME A WINDLASS

Applications will be accepted for prospective members by mail prior to testing.

Windlasses is open to female sailors who would like to improve their sailing skills through racing. For your safety and our insurance purposes, in order to be accepted into our Orientation Program, you must be able to do the following:

1. Sail a basic course which includes sailing into the wind, tacking and jibing.

2. Upright a capsized pram.

3. Swim from the capsized pram to the safety boat, climb up the ladder on the back of the boat and get into the safety boat.

New membership is only available once a year at the end of August and is followed each Thursday for a 6 week orientation period.  The orientation includes on the water sailing and classroom presentations on racing rules, tactics, and related subjects.  Successful passing of our Orientation Program is required in order to become a member. Those who do not pass will be given a FULL refund of their annual dues.
